    Thursday Music Session

    Mercee (Nu-Jazz, RnB, Soul)

BIG DATA AT THE WORKPLACE: PRODUCTIVITY VS. PRIVACY

Never before has so much data been collected and evaluated as today. Why? Data allows companies to learn more about their customers and to adjust their offerings. Data allows manufacturers to optimize their production and reduce costs. If organizations make clever use of data, this often has positive effects for all stakeholders. However, questions of legality and legitimacy also arise. For example, when companies digitally monitor their employees without their knowledge, store this data, evaluate it using algorithms, and include it in decisions on promotions, bonuses, or dismissals. However, questions of legality and legitimacy also arise. For example, when companies digitally monitor their employees without their knowledge, store this data, evaluate it using algorithms, and include it in decisions on promotions, bonuses, or dismissals. Where does the legitimate interest of employers end and where does the privacy of employees need to be protected? What does the legislator say? What technologies are used and what is the situation in Switzerland? How does digital surveillance affect the well-being and productivity of employees? Could new datafication technologies perhaps lead to greater trust in the workplace or between customers and companies? You can look forward to an exciting discussion with leading experts on the burning issues in the field of Big Data and data protection in the workplace.
